Let's see, where to begin..
It was during the long hot summer of 1998 that I moved to the San Francisco bay area, full of bright dreams and big ambitions, ready to make my mark in the City by the Bay.
Well, sort of.
Actually, I ostensibly moved up to Berkeley to continue working on my PhD in French lit. Lucky for me, my growing disenchantment with academia coincided with the dot com explosion. And so I left behind Beckett and Baudrillard (see ya boys!) for HTML, JavaScript, and the whole wacky WWW.
Since then, I've worked for web companies both large and small, first coding for hours on end, then planning and implementing web applications for an outfit honoring the "best of the web." I had a brief stint at a little software company in Redwood Shores, and I found time to write a book, teach a scripting class, and work on some pretty fun projects along the way.
These days, I'm on the management end of the tech spectrum, working at the same university where I began and concluded my earlier flirtation with the Ivory Tower.
Outside of work, I spend most of my free time biking around the bay area, painting, cooking, reading, writing, and trying rather unsuccessfully to learn to play the guitar.
